The development of information technology is very rapid in today's era of globalization, so humans are required
to be able to follow developments and always try to adopt the latest information technology to help smooth the
organization. Higher education is a place to gain knowledge for students and also as a place to equip themselves
with various skills and expertise according to their interests and talents so as to produce a quality society.
Choosing elective courses is the main problem faced by students, namely feeling confused and afraid that if they
choose one of the elective courses they will not be able to complete it. In this problem, a Content-Based Filtering
Recommendation System is introduced which is based on data mining techniques applied in the educational
environment. A system that is very useful in helping students to decide on taking elective courses, namely the
Student Study Planning System. This system uses a Content-Based Filtering Recommendation System which has
the ability to recommend items to users based on the description of the item, while to analyze the patterns of item
combinations, an a priori algorithm based on data mining association rules is used. The student study planning
system that has been created in the form of an Elective Course Selection System application has been tested on
several users, namely several students, the results of which make it easier for students to determine the choice of
elective courses, without any hesitation or fear of not passing if they choose a course. the choice is like in a manual
system.
